That’s not “cute”

I was at Target the other day and something happened that I’ve been thinking about. Now this isn’t to shame anyone it’s just something I’ve been thinking about.

There was a mom with her daughter there and her daughter started throwing a tantrum because her mom wouldn’t get her a toy. I’m talking throw herself on the floor, kicking, screaming tantrum. Now, I’ve been there before, and it’s hard to deal with. This mom did an awesome job, just picked her daughter up and kept it moving.

Now here is where I had an issue. When she was walking away she said “this is not cute, sweetie. This is not cute.” Okay.... she’s not doing this to be cute. She’s doing it because she has no other way to express herself. We preach about teaching our girls to not depend on their looks, that beauty comes from within. So instead of saying “that’s not cute”, say “acting this way isn’t kind”? Because it’s not and that will help her later on in life.

Just my thoughts.
